edwin rivera - vfx supervisor


Edwin Rivera is a Visual Effects Supervisor who for over 20 years has been dedicated to creating seamless visual effects as efficiently as possible. 

He recently worked as a Visual Effects Supervisor on such films as the soon to be released Grown Ups 2, the Academy Award nominated Moneyball (where he helped to innovate an unconventional and cost effective pipeline to place 65,000 screaming fans in an otherwise empty stadium using only 50 extras), This is 40, Wanderlust, and Hot Tub Time Machine.  Prior to these films Edwin completed work on Alvin & The Chimpunks: The Squeakuel as a Sequence Supervisor, helping to bring the beloved cartoon characters to fully rendered life in the live action holiday film.  As a Sequence Supervisor Edwin Rivera has overseen the wide array of disciplines tasked with creating all of the elements, both live action and computer generated, used to create the final shots seen onscreen.  Edwin has served as a Sequence Supervisor on many projects, including The Mummy 3: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, Night at the Museum, and the Academy Award-winning Golden Compass.  Beginning his career at VIFX in the early 1990’s, Edwin served as a Digital Compositor on such projects as Broken Arrow and Batman Forever. He was promoted to Digital Compositing Supervisor in 1996 with Jingle All the Way, and continued in that role on such films as Titanic, The X Files movie and Star Trek: Insurrection.  Joining Rhythm & Hues in 1999, Edwin’s supervisory credits also include The Skeleton Key, Serenity, X2, The Sum Of All Fears and How the Grinch Stole Christmas.  Edwin has also served as Sequence Supervisor for both Garfield and Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties, as well as Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed.

Edwin graduated from Rutgers University with a B.A. in Visual Arts.
